Our Sep 17 group spent time on the topic of shifting seasons and through a free write exercise came up with a collective poem we thought we would share. As I am writing this the sun is warm on my back and I am appreciating the fall.

Fall is a sulky, underappreciated sister until she dons her slippers.
It wasn't fair: Summer had the golden hair and little tinkling laugh.
Love is a new promise from the window of my old house which is already falling apart.
The idea of running after butterflies when I am not as young as I was.
A harvest queen, grateful and graceful.
What she knew of herself was to be held in all time and by everyone.
She wouldn't wear shoes with backs, she refused to be heeled that way.
She could never loose her love again because it was held with all people in their hearts because they held the same truth in themselves.
The stories which once hurt at their recall, now warmed the soul.
