For those of you who like to tie in NVC with brain science, you might like this 4:11 video explanation that the "left brain vs. right brain" is a myth.  It's not the first time I've heard this.  Iain McGilchrist also talks about the myth in his book, "The Master and His Emissary".

Hi Melissa, I just discovered this post, only 7 months after you posted it. Thanks for sharing it! It corresponds to my understanding of brain anatomy and function, even though there might be some right brain/left brain differences we don't yet know about.

The book "My Stroke of Insight" by neuroanatomist Jill Bolte-Taylor (and the Ted talk by Bolte-Taylor) explore this. She had a brain bleed that damaged her left hemisphere. She described very interesting insights and awarenesses. And a friend of mine had a left-sided stroke recently with similar expanded awareness and even a sense of interconnectedness.

Thanks Nancy!

I've seen Bolte's TEDtalk some years ago and enjoyed it.  Interesting to know that your friend had a similar experience!

Perhaps next time I see someone as needing awareness or an expanded sense of interconnectedness, and I quietly mutter to you that it seems they need a wack on the left side of their head, you'll catch my drift [wink]
